Road Trip: Maryville-Oakland in 6A semi

High school careers are coming to an end for countless players all over the country. A pair of Tennessee commits saw this come to a close Friday night.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Regardless of the outcome, at least one future Tennessee Volunteer was going to see his high-school football career come to a close Friday night.

Jack Jones, Kyle Oliver and the Scout No. 50-ranked Oakland Patriots played host to Dylan Jackson and the Scout No. 16-ranked Maryville Rebels in a 2014 TSSAA Class 6A state semifinal.

Turnovers proved too costly for Oakland and Maryville's offense kept its visitors off balance all evening as the Rebels came out on top 26-14 to secure a spot in the 6A championship at Tennessee Tech University's Tucker Stadium in Cookeville on Dec. 6.
