It wasn't the blowout most predicted but the 65% of the fans in orange at Vanderbilt Stadium didn't seem to mind. They celebrated a 24-17 win over the Commodores and with good reason. Tennessee will be playing a 13th game sometime in December.
The Volunteers came into Nashville banged up enough, missing several key players. When Jalen Hurd had to leave the game with an injury, things only got worse for the offense. Plenty of room was left for improvement but for now the criticism can wait. Tennessee is bowl eligible for the first time since 2010. Another brick in the infrastructure.
