Darrin Kirkland combines size, speed and smarts to make him the Scout network's No. 5 middle linebacker in the 2015 class.
At 6-foot-1, 228 pounds and being a three-year starter in the highly competitive Indianapolis, Indiana, area Kirkland has enough size and more than plenty smarts to see the field in college sooner rather than later.
The No. 3-rated senior prospect in Indiana said no to finalists Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas while saying yes to Tennessee. The four-star's pledge is a major one for the Volunteers with four-year starter A.J. Johnson graduating and three-star Cecil Cherry no longer committed.
