Vols Offer First, That Means Something

Every football prospect dreams of their first scholarship offer and it is usually something they won't forget. Tennessee recently made that dream come true for a talented offensive tackle and the Vols are high on his list now...

Exactly a week after visiting Tennessee, the Volunteers offered Tony Gray.

It went down Saturday March 20. That is when Gray received the news.

"I was just at Tennessee the week before, then I got the offer, and it was exciting," said Gray. "Tennessee being first to offer me means a lot to me. It showed me that they were looking at me early and you can say that is does help them some with me."

The offer is big, but the visit to Knoxville, Tenn. the week before was too. Most recruits are impressed with UT's facilities and Gray is no different.

"Tennessee has big facilities and everything there is great. It is all new, everything is beautiful, and it was all nice up there. They have a new barbershop in there and just a lot stood out to me."

After the visit to UT and the offer, the Vols has moved up on Gray's list.

"Tennessee is on top with Georgia (offered last week) now," said Gray. "I had a good talk with the coaches on my visit and I like Tennessee right now.

"I like the way I was treated on the visit and they really made me feel at home when I was there. Even though I did not have an offer yet, they made me feel important, and that stood out to me."

Next up for the 6-foot-5, 265 pound offensive tackle out of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett is a visit to Florida. Tennessee got it started with the offer last Saturday, and since then, Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky have followed with offers.

Gray is currently a sophomore and he is not thinking about committing anytime soon.
