Vols to Holyfield: 'We need running backs'

Can Tennessee land an elite-level running back in the Class of 2016? Sign in to learn much more about Georgia's best back, Elijah Holyfield.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Elijah Holyfield's message from the coaching staff at Tennessee includes ample, if not immediate, playing time.

The Woodward (Ga.) Academy standout is one of the highest players on the board for coach Butch Jones, running backs coach Robert Gillespie and the staff.

"They talk to me just like I'm one of their players now," Holyfield told InsideTennessee. "They don't try to sugarcoat too much from me."

On Wednesday night, the Scout four-star prospect released a top 10 that includes Tennessee as well as Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina and USC.

Holyfield spent time unofficially visiting Tennessee each of the last two years and has another visit up from the Atlanta area later this month to "more than anything, just keep building relationships."

The 5-foot-10, 204-pounder ranks by Scout as the No. 21 running back in the 2016 class and No. 1 runner in the Peach State.
