It’s been said a thousand times but recruiting is all about relationships.
“At Tennessee, I have a great relationship with coach Azzanni,” Victor told InsideTennessee. “I went up there last summer. I did a one-day camp. That’s when I got the offer. Ever since then, me and coach have connected. He’s been talking to me everyday.”
The Vols interest and the communication with Azzanni are enough to get the Scout No. 36-rated prospect in the nation to return to Knoxville this weekend. Victor says he is coming to “just get a chance to talk to all the coaches again, talk to the players to see how everything is really without the coaches’ perspective and ask them how it is up there and what they do.”
The No. 2 pass catcher in the Sunshine State said he “most definitely” sees the opportunity for early playing time in Knoxville with the impending graduation of Alton Howard, Johnathon Johnson and Von Pearson and the possible early entry into the 2016 NFL Draft by junior Marquez North.
“To me, anywhere I go I’m going to have the opportunity to play because I’m just going to come in and compete and have a spot for me,” Victor said.
Jarrett Guarantano is the Scout East Region No. 1 quarterback, and he’s bound for Tennessee. The right-hander and Victor teamed up on the same 7-on-7 team at The Opening last week.
“He’s a great QB. If I do end up at Tennessee, we would have that connection and would take it from there,” Victor said.
