TN Safety Commits to Vols

The Vols picked up a safety commitment from an in-state standout.

Tennessee picked up a commitment today from an instate prospect from the Volunteer State. Ryan Karl, 6-0 and 205 pounds (4.5), from Franklin (Tenn.) Battle Ground Academy, is headed to Knoxville.

"Tennessee offered yesterday and he committed this morning," Battle Creek Head Coach Tim Moore said. "His sister goes to school there and his family is all Vols. Ryan is a great kid who works so hard at his game and in the weight room."

Karl camped at Tennessee this summer and really impressed the Volunteer staff. For him, this is a dream come true.

"I have always wanted to play for Tennessee. My whole family went to school there and we love the Vols. I have always watched them since I was a kid too. I love the stadium. It is so huge and I get so excited every time I go there. That place takes my breath away."

Over the past two seasons, Karl has rushed for close to 3,300 yards and had about 800 receiving yards. He plays running back, cornerback, outside linebacker and free safety for Battle Creek. He projects as a strong safety or outside linebacker at Tennessee.
