The InsideTennessee staff takes a shot at all 41 bowl games

The InsideTennessee takes a crack at predicting every bowl game this season. Chance for error: high.

The bowl season is upon us. Grab an adult beverage, hit the recliner and tell the kids you'll see them after the New Year. The InsideTennessee staff has predicted every bowl game with a rank next to it. No. 1 is our least confident pick, while No. 40 you can bet your life insurance policy on.

To the picks:

Danny Parker's Picks:

40  Can’t see the Wildcats being able score more than a pair of touchdowns in this one. Expecting it to look similar to the Missouri-Tennessee game. Quality defenses on both sides. Northwestern doesn’t have enough offensive weapons. If the Vols can get a multi-score lead and force Purple Vandy to pass, it could get out of hand. Tennessee over Northwestern

39 The Razorbacks offense is impressive to watch when it’s clicking. Arkansas over Kansas State

38 Too much talent in T-town for them to lose this one. A coach once told me that his program had to recruit a very different athlete and carry a different philosophy than what Alabama employs because it’s extremely hard to beat Alabama at its game. Alabama over Michigan State

37 The Hokies cannot lose things game. Just can’t. The end of Beamer Ball should include a “W.” Virginia Tech over Tulsa

36 Utah over BYU

35 Dak Prescott in his final collegiate game? Can’t see him letting the Bulldogs go down. I do think there will be a lot of points scores. Mississippi State over North Carolina State

34 Florida State over Houston

33 Stanford over Iowa

32 Leonard Fournette runs for 268 on 31 carries. The Red Raiders offense is no slouch either but limited possessions will be tough. LSU over Texas Tech

31 North Carolina over Baylor

30 UCLA over Nebraska

29 Arizona over New Mexico

28 Cal over Air Force

27 Arizona State over West Virginia

26 Ohio over Appalachian State

25 Minnesota over Central Michigan

24 USC over Wisconsin

23 Oregon over Texas Christian

22 Utah State over Akron

21 Extremely interested to see if Hugh Freeze suspends Robert Nkemdiche for this one. Can you really let a guy get high and jump out of a hotel and not miss any time? That seems like it would open the door to negative recruiting. Ole Miss over Oklahoma State

20 Pitt over Navy

19 Awful lot going on in Columbus right now and several players have their eyes set on the National Football League. Is that enough to swing momentum to the Irish? Don’t think so. Ohio State over Notre Dame

18 Bowling Green over Georgia Southern

17 Boise State over Northern Illinois

16 Duke over Indiana

15 Quite possibly the worst offensive display of the bowl season. Yikes. On the other hand, if you like defense, be sure to tune in. Florida over Michigan

14 San Jose State over Georgia State

13 South Florida over Western Kentucky

12 If the coaching change wasn’t taking place in Memphis, I would have more confidence in the Tigers as I expect Paxton Lynch to have a nice game in his finale. He can make some money by lighting it up in this one. Auburn over Memphis

11 Southern Miss over Washington

10 Western Michigan over Middle Tennessee

Marshall over UConn

Miami over Washington State

San Diego State over Cincinnati

Colorado State over Nevada

5 No idea what the heck the athletics department is allowing to go down in Athens but I feel bad for that football team. No head coach. No offensive coordinator. No defensive coordinator. New head coach is off helping an SEC foe trying to win a national championship. Wide receivers coach leading the way with graduate assistants having to step up. Just stinks all the way around. Would pick Georgia if it’s staff from the season was in place. Penn State over Georgia

4 Having watched the replay of the Clemson win over Notre Dame, it’s crazy how the Irish had a chance to win late in spite of a fumble fest in the rain. Partially want to win so I don’t have to hear more acronyms and see a dabb attempt from Dabo Swinney. Oklahoma over Clemson

3 It’s hard to figure out what the heck is going on in College Station. It’s also tough to win versus a formidable foe with a brand new quarterback. The Aggies have more talent but the void at the sport’s most important position is too much. Louisville over Texas A&M

Temple over Toledo

Louisiana Tech over Arkansas State

Cory Gunkel's Picks:

1. Orange Bowl: Oklahoma over Clemson

2. Cotton Bowl: Alabama over Michigan State

3. San Francisco Bowl: Nebraska over UCLA

4. New Orleans Bowl: Louisiana Tech over Arkansas State

5. Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State over Notre Dame

6. Rose Bowl: Stanford over Iowa - This game might be the low-key best of the bowl season. I really wanted to pick Iowa in this game, but Stanford and its merry band of tight ends will come away victorious.

7. Bahamas Bowl: Middle Tennessee over Western Michigan

8. Pinstripe Bowl: Indiana over Duke

9. Russell Athletic Bowl: North Carolina over Baylor

10. Go Daddy Bowl: Bowling Green over Georgia Southern

11.Quick Lane Bowl: Central Michigan over Minnesota

12. Sugar Bowl: Ole Miss over Oklahoma State - The Rebels' defense

13. St. Petersburg Bowl: Marshall over UConn

14. Alamo Bowl: TCU over Oregon

15. Idaho Potato Bowl: Akron over Utah State

16. Cure Bowl: Georgia State over San Jose State

17. Military Bowl: Navy over Pitt

18. Boca Bowl: Temple over Toledo

19. Heart of Dallas Bowl: Southern Miss over Washington - Half of bowl season hinges on who wants to be there more. In this case, that's Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles are just the second team in NCAA history to boast a 4,000 yard passer and two 1,000-yard rushers in the same season, and Todd Monken's team is looking to end this bowl season with a big W. The Huskies have played a much tougher schedule, but I think USM is the better team.

20. Arizona Bowl: Colorado State over Nevada

21. Holiday Bowl: USC over Wisconsin

22. Birmingham Bowl: Memphis over Auburn

23. Camellia Bowl: Appalachian State over Ohio

24. Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force over Cal

25.  Poinsettia Bowl: Boise State over Northern Illinois

26.  Las Vegas Bowl: Utah over BYU

27. Hawaii Bowl: San Diego State over Cincinnati

28. Sun Bowl: Miami over Washington State

29. Cactus Bowl: Arizona State over West Virginia

30. Independence Bowl: Virginia Tech over Tulsa

31. Peach Bowl: Florida State over Houston

32. Miami Beach Bowl: Western Kentucky over South Florida

33. Gator Bowl: Penn State over Georgia - I wonder who's gonna coach this game? I could be available.

34. New Mexico Bowl: Arizona over New Mexico

35. Music City Bowl: Louisville over Texas A&M - The Aggies are burning down inside their program as both Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray have transfered. Do they have a Kylest on the team? Louisville will take advantage of this oncoming dumpster fire to pick off Texas A&M.

36. Belk Bowl: Mississippi State over NC State -

37. Texas Bowl: LSU over Texas Tech - Texas Tech might have the worst run defense out of every Power 5 team in the country. In the words of Forest Gump: "That's all I got to say about that."

38. Liberty Bowl: Arkansas over Kansas State - Arkansas is as balanced its been offensively since the Houston Nutt-era and should handily take care of K-State in a friendly environment in Memphis. This is one of the biggest bowl spreads of the post-season (-11 and fluctuating), and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Razorbacks covered.

39. Outback Bowl: Tennessee over Northwestern - The Vols have the best matchup it could possibly ask for in Northwestern, a team ranked 10 spots higher than them in the polls but much less talented. This is a chance for Tennessee to bury Pat Fitzgerald's squad, which struggles mightily offensively and — despite a good defense — isn't as great as some of the D's Butch Jones' team has faced this season (see Alabama, Florida, etc.). Tennessee will get its yards on the ground behind Jalen Hurd and company, so it will be up to Josh Dobbs to balance things out with his arm and limit his mistakes to keep Northwestern out of it. The Wildcats' offense is Mizzou-level bad and probably won't be able to score more than twice. As was the case in Columbia, two scores will likely do it.

40.  Citrus Bowl: Michigan over Florida
