SEC writers tab Auburn, Georgia

Safety Rashad Baker and punter Dustin Colquitt were the only Tennessee football players pegged preseason first-team all-conference by reporters participating in Kickoff 2003 SEC Media Days in Birmingham.

Tackle Michael Munoz, center Scott Wells, tailback Cedric Houston and linebacker Kevin Burnett were second-team All-SEC picks by the writers and broadcasters attending the three-day gathering.

The same writers pick Georgia and Auburn to meet in the SEC Championship Game, with Auburn a runaway pick to win the league title. The Tigers got 45 votes to Georgia's 12. Tennessee followed with 10 votes, LSU 6, Ole Miss 2, Florida 2 and Arkansas 1.

By divisions, Auburn was a landslide winner in the West, getting 60 first-place votes. LSU got 13 first-place ballots and finished second. Arkansas received two first-place votes and finished third. Alabama got only one first-place vote but placed fourth. Ole Miss received two first-place votes and ranked fifth, while Mississippi State got no first-place votes and finished last.

In the East, Georgia got 42 first-place votes to Tennessee's 30. Florida pulled six first-place votes and placed third. South Carolina, Kentucky and Vanderbilt placed 4-5-6 with none garnering a first-place vote.
