Bad news for Bama

The University of Alabama football team got some bad news this week when it learned that star linebacker Brooks Daniels has withdrawn from school and will miss the 2003 season with what has been described as ''an undisclosed medical condition.''

Daniels is a preseason All-SEC pick who led the Tide with 109 tackles in 2002.

In addition to NCAA penalties and Daniel's disability, Bama has another factor working against it this football season.

''People ask me, 'Why come back here?' '' first-year head coach Mike Shula said recently. ''One reason is I feel I have unfinished business.''

Oops ... ''Unfinished Business'' was the motto of the 2002 Tennessee Vols, who promptly went out and lost five of 13 games.
