NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Maleik Gray did not have to attend Tennessee’s inaugural satellite camp, “STATEment Day.”
The Scout four-star safety prospect from La Vergne (Tenn.) High School has had a scholarship offer from the Volunteers for years now but chose to venture to Tennessee State University to be around Tennessee coaches and see how they work.
“They were glad to see me,” Gray told InsideTennessee on Sunday. “They were hoping I’d get back on campus again, too.”
Landing the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder would be a major addition to the Big Orange 2017 class as he ranks by Scout as one of the best 60 players in the nation.
“I feel like a major priority to them,” said Gray, who could wind up at linebacker or safety on the next level.
