Tre Mckitty is one of the more highly recruited tight ends in the South. Find out why Tennessee may have an edge over some of the competition.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Tre Mckitty is all set to make a public declaration on his college choice at The Opening.

Tennessee has a chance to land the Scout No. 2-rated tight end in the Sunshine State and hears from first-year Vols tight ends coach Larry Scott "every few days."

"I still have interest in them," Mckitty told InsideTennessee. "I talked to coach Scott before I got here."

Mckitty once appeared headed to Miami (Fla.) when Scott was the interim coach with the Hurricanes. That relationship continued on between the two even after Scott's move north.

The tight end spoke with current Vols and get a taste of the fan base at the Orange & White game at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville back in mid-April.

The main competition for the Big Orange is Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Oregon.
