Tennessee extended its winning streak to seven by surviving Appalachian State 20-13 in overtime at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville on Thursday night.

The No. 9-ranked Volunteers opened their season in front of an announced crowd of 100,074.

The win was Tennessee's 821st in program history, which is ninth among FBS programs.
