Tennessee baseball added 17 players for the 2017 season, including 14 from the high school ranks, three from junior college and one graduate transfer.
Injury-wise, pitcher Aaron Soto (elbow) is out for the season. Alex Sosnowski is out for a “couple more weeks.”
Tennessee coach Dave Serrano says his Volunteers “have the ingredients to develop an SEC pitching staff.” Freshman arms Zach Linginfelter and Garrett Stallings “haven’t disappointed.”
On the offensive side, getting Jeff Moberg back after a season-ending injury is major. Brandon Chinea has been “really exciting to watch.” Serrano on Pete Derkay: “All I know he can do is hit, and he can hit.”
