Tennessee did what it needed to do and then some, dominating from start to finish in a 55-0 victory over Tennessee Tech in Knoxville on Saturday.
The Volunteers (6-3) broke a three-game losing streak and got in the win column for the first time since Oct. 1.
"There was no drama inside our building," Tennessee coach Butch Jones said. "Our team is very focused. There wasn't anything in our building in terms of distraction or clutter.
"On the outside it may have seemed (that way) but that was manufactured.
"I take great pride in being the head coach here, and I know how special this program is to a lot of people."
The Vols improved their all-time record against the Golden Eagles (3-6) to 6-0 and is their fourth shutout in the series.
The homecoming matchup served as a tune-up for the Vols as three straight Southeastern Conference foes — Kentucky, Missouri and Vanderbilt — come up on the schedule.
"We're going to be challenged the next three weeks," Jones said.
