Pinegar won't start vs. UT

Fresno State quarterback Paul Pinegar will not start Saturday's game against Tennessee due to a pulled muscle in his chest, according to published reports in The Fresno Bee newspaper.

Senior Jeff Grady will start in place of Pinegar, a sophomore. Grady opened the 2002 season as Fresno's No. 1 quarterback but suffered a hip injury that gave Pinegar a grip on the job he maintained the rest of the season.

Pinegar, a 6-4, 220-pounder known for his passing skills, did not participate in Tuesday's practice. Some reports say he will not play at all Saturday vs. Tennessee, while others suggest he could see relief action. Pinegar is scheduled to make the trip to Knoxville.

Saturday will be Grady's third career start. He reportedly lacks Pinegar's big-time arm but has better mobility and a better grasp of the Bulldog offense. His career stats show 47 completions in 101 attempts for 635 yards.
