Losing players to injury is never easy.

No question that Tennessee has been faced with the adversity of a depletion of players over the course of the 2016 season — especially at some of the units that seems to contain the most depth, like the line of defense.

With injuries resulting in a thinner-than-expected D-line, multiple players such as LaTroy Lewis, Dimarya Mixon, Charles Moseley and Kyle Phillips have stepped up within the past year at the defensive tackle position in order to fill the gaps.

“It definitely provides a challenge for those individuals,” linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. said. “We try to be as prepared as possible for each situation that comes about, so there are definitely guys that are embracing that role.”
