Gallery: Vols legacy carving his own niche

Another mid-state talent and Tennessee legacy has a target on his back from coach Butch Jones & Co.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Jackson Lampley battled through a gimpy ankle to hold down left tackle for Montgomery Bell Academy in the Big Red's appearance Thursday in the TSSAA Division II Class AA state championship.

That's the type of toughness that programs like Mississippi and Tennessee see in the sophomore blocker in offering him a scholarship.

Lampley, whose father Brad Lampley played with the Volunteers in the mid-90s, paved the way for MBA runner Ty Chandler to take home a Mr. Football Back of the Year award.
