No. 21 Vols face Nebraska in Music City Bowl

The Tennessee Volunteers know their bowl destination for the holidays.

Tennessee will play in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.

The Volunteers (8-4) face the Big Ten's Nebraska at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m. Central.

The Cornhuskers (9-3) rank No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25. The Vols rank No. 21 in the College Football Playoff.

Tennessee finished second in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division. This will be its 52nd all-time bowl appearance, which is tied for the fourth most in the NCAA. It won its last two bowls, defeating Northwestern 45-6 in the Outback Bowl in Tampa in January. It took down Iowa 45-28 in the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville on Jan. 2, 2015.

The Vols are tied with Texas for sixth all-time in bowl wins (27).

The Big Orange is 2-1 in program history on Dec. 30 games. It defeated No. 10 Louisiana State 24-17 in the Bluebonnet Bowl in 1972. It took down No. 17 Virginia Tech 45-23 in the 1004 Gator Bowl. North Carolina came out on top 30-27 in double overtime in the 2010 Music City Bowl.

Nebraska is 2-0 all-time versus Tennessee. It defeated the Vols 42-17 in the Orange Bowl in 1997. It also won 31-21 in the Fiesta Bowl in 1999.
