Smyrna's Dallas Walker remarks on early Vols offer

Gaining a scholarship offer from a Southeastern Conference program after one season of prep football is not commonplace. Dallas Walker is an exception.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Earning a scholarship from a Southeastern Conference program as a freshman is rarefied company.

Welcome Dallas Walker to that group.

The Smyrna (Tenn.) High School defensive lineman picked up an offer from Tennessee this winter.

"It just came earlier than I thought it would," Walker told InsideTennessee.

The well-spoken freshman will give the proximity aspect of Volunteer football plenty of thought.

"I think it's very important because you know I always like to stay close to my Mom and my family," Walker said.
