Starter has procedure, new roles, more notes on Vols

Appendectomies, leadership emergence, weight gains...get it all in regards to Tennessee football.

Tennessee had its first full-padded practice Saturday. The pad popping continued Tuesday on Haslam Field in Knoxville.

A double-digit number of Volunteers will be out of action the entire spring. Another player that wasn't at practice Tuesday was center Coleman Thomas, who had to undergo an appendectomy.
