At one point, fourth-string WILL linebacker Elliot Berry got the starting nod after injuries to Jalen Reeves-Maybin (shoulder), Quarté Sapp (knee) and Cortez McDowell (head).

As hard of a time as assistant coach Tommy Thigpen's group had last fall, the experience gained by the back-up 'backers was invaluable and should pay off some in 2017.

Reeves-Maybin graduated. Sapp is still rehabilitating following surgery. But a January newcomer is taking full advantage of the vacant reps as Shanon Reid has turned heads through the first 10 spring practices.

Learn about Reid's being a quick learner, how former Scout four-star Daniel Bituli is doing while now being 245 pounds and more by reading IT's notes package from Tuesday.
