Freshman Clips: Tennessee Vols OL Trey Smith

Trey Smith may only be a teenager, but the Jackson native turned Tennessee Volunteer has the size and talent to be a contributor early into his career on Rocky Top. Have a look.

Trey Smith hardly resembles his 17 years of age.

The 6-foot-5, 313-pound offensive lineman is the youngest player on Tennessee's roster, but he's also one of the Volunteers with the brightest future.

After giving Tennessee a verbal commitment on national television in December, Smith moved from Jackson to Knoxville in January. He arrived with ample fanfare as a Scout five-star prospect and the No. 4-ranked offensive tackle in the 2017 class.  At times, that much attention can be overwhelming for a teenager at a Power 5 program, however, Smith took it all in stride and garnered praise from Tennessee coaches, including Butch Jones, throughout the spring semester.

Smith was one of five midyear enrollees to suit up with the Power T on his helmet and compete in front of Big Orange Country inside Neyland Stadium on Saturday as the DISH Orange & White game put a cap on the spring.
