This week's SEC ratings

Two weeks into conference play, five of the SEC's 12 teams remain unbeaten -- and four of them reside in the Western Division.

Tennessee leads the East at 2-0. Everyone else in the division has lost at least once. Florida and Georgia are 1-1, while Kentucky, South Carolina and Vanderbilt are 0-2.

Over in the West, however, there's a real logjam at the top. LSU is 2-0 but Arkansas, Auburn and (get this) Ole Miss are one-half game back at 1-0. Mississippi State is 0-1 and Alabama (ineligible for the SEC championship) is 1-1.

Four SEC teams are ranked in the Associated Press' top 12 nationally -- LSU (6th), Tennessee (7th), Arkansas (8th) and Georgia (11th). Florida checks in at No. 24, despite a 3-2 record, because its losses came against No. 2 Miami and No. 7 Tennessee.

Here's a look at Rocky Top News' latest SEC rankings, based on the usual 1-10 scale:

Tennessee (8.5) - Vols slip a bit after struggling with Carolina
Georgia (8.5) - Dawgs' only loss was a close one at LSU
South Carolina (7.0) - Cocks gave Tennessee all it wanted
Florida (6.0) - Lucky to win at Kentucky last weekend
Kentucky (5.5) - Cats stand 2-3 after blowing Florida game
Vanderbilt (4.5) - Dores showed life in OT loss to Georgia Tech

Arkansas (9) - Quality road wins at Texas, Bama
LSU (8.5) - Beat a very good Georgia team
Auburn (7.5) - Can Tigers topple Tennessee?
Alabama (7.0) - Loss to UGA would be three straight for Tide
Ole Miss (5.0) - Pass defense is non-existent
Miss. State (4.5) - Where have you gone, Joe Lee Dunn?
