Thursday Practice Report

The coldest afternoon of the year yielded few comments from head coach Phillip Fulmer after Thursday's work-out. Fulmer did reveal that Sean Young would not start at right tackle on Saturday though.

"Sean sprained his ankle on Tuesday," Fulmer said.

Young's absence paves the way for true freshman Arron Sears to crack the starting line-up.

Sears had seen most of his action at left tackle. However, Fulmer likes for most of his lineman to be able to play more than one position.

"Arron's ready to go," said Fulmer. "Anthony Herrera can go there, Cody Douglas could go there. Arron's the most ready. I'm anxious to see how he does on Saturday."

The only other injury notes are that free safety Rashad Baker and wide receiver Bret Smith are ready to play if the need should arise.

Fulmer also emphasized that he is looking for his team to continue to be efficient on both sides of the football.

"Efficiency has kind of been the catch word for the week," Fulmer said. "As the defense has progressed we've given up fewer things that teams haven't earned. Therefore their efficiency has gone up."

"Offensively, we've had flashes of that. In the first half of the game against Miami, we have the ball twenty minutes and thirty five seconds. They have it for nine twenty five. That's efficient. If we can go and do those things, we've got a chance to finish up in grand style."

The Vols have a walk-through scheduled for Friday afternoon in Neyland Stadium.
