UT trio makes Frosh All-SEC

Offensive tackle Arron Sears, defensive back Antwan Stewart and place kicker James Wilhoit have been named to the All-SEC Freshman team by The Sporting News.

Sears, a 6-4, 300-pounder from Russellville, Ala., played in six games for the Vols. He broke into the starting lineup against Mississippi State at right tackle but suffered an ankle injury in that contest that kept him sidelined the last two games.

Stewart picked off passes in the last two games, stopping Vanderbilt and Kentucky scoring opportunities with interceptions at the goal line. The 6-0, 180-pounder from Dumfries, Va., appeared in every game, starting five, and finished the year with 23 tackles and six pass deflections.

Wilhoit made 12 of his last 13 field goal attempts to improve to 20th nationally and second among freshmen with 1.42 field goals per game. The 5-10, 190-pounder from Hendersonville made 17 of 23 attempts during the season and all 39 of his extra-point kicks. His season long was a key 51-yard field goal at Florida.
