Trautwein goes public Friday

Allan Smith (Tempe, Ariz.) eliminated Tennessee from his list of potential college homes this morning, and the Vols may get bad news from another big offensive lineman tomorrow.

Phil Trautwein (Eastern High School of Voorhees, N.J.) reportedly will announce Friday. There is speculation that he will commit to Florida, whose campus he visited last weekend. He also visited Tennessee, Boston College, Michigan State and Virginia.

Trautwein, a 6-7 and 305-pounder, has not allowed a sack since his sophomore season. He averaged roughly 10 pancake blocks per game, helping Eastern High School win the Group IV State Championship last fall.

''Tennessee has a great atmosphere, great players, a great stadium, a great campus, and a great coaching staff,'' Trautwein recently told TheInsiders.com.

Still, Florida appears to be the team to beat. He has an aunt who lives a short drive from Gainesville, plus two cousins attending the school. Moreover, he recently described Florida as ''my dream school.''
