Vols Hope to Host Hall

Tennessee salvaged a shot at Marque Hall, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive tackle from Marshville, N.C,. by rescheduling his official visit for Tuesday, eight days before national signing day.

Originally Hall planned to be in Knoxville this weekend, but a conflict with taking his SAT forced a postponement. Rated the nation's No. 10 defensive tackle, Hall would be a boost in the trenches for a Tennessee team that, uncharacteristically, had trouble stopping the run last season.

Marque Hall has already visited South Carolina, North Carolina and North Carolina State and is slated to visited Virginia Tech next weekend. However, he has been growing weary of recruiting travails and may elected to skip one if not both of his final two visits.

Hall hasn't named a favorite to this point but many observes believe it's a battle between the N.C. and N.C. State. Tennessee assistant Dan Brooks has kept the Vols in contention and his influence figures to be enough to leverage the visit, however, to turn this talented defensive tackle the Vols will need to make quite an impression. To that end, the absence of other prospects on campus could be a benefit or a disadvantage.

We'll keep you posted on further developments with this high-profile prospect.
