Marque Hall Visits Vols

In recruiting like in war there is no rest for the weary. Take Marshall, N.C, native and all-American tackle Marque Hall (and a lot of schools are trying), he returned from a two-day visit to Knoxville today and leaves for Blacksburg, Va. tomorrow.

But before he got out of town, he graciously took time to answer a few questions about his Tennessee visit.

"It was all right," said the 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive lineman. "I went up on Tuesday and came back this morning. My hosts were Omar Gaither and Greg Jones. The facilities were big. I liked them. I could be comfortable in Knoxville. I could be comfortable anywhere."

Hall's comfort level is the driving force behind his decision and he's looking at all aspects of that creature requirement.

"Being comfortable is the most important thing to me," he said. "I want to be comfortable with the players, the coaches and the school. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give Tennessee about an 8."

Hall, who is rated No. 10 at his position by The Insiders, has already made visits to North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Tennessee and will wrap up his official allotment with Virginia Tech. He said early playing time isn't a factor in his decision.

By the way, Marque Hall just turned 18 on Jan. 16 and is still growing. However he spent most of last year getting smaller and actually dropped 60 pounds through a demanding training regiment and sheer will power.

"I maintained my usual workout," he said. "I just cut out fried foods, sodas and stuff. I mainly had water, milk and juice and ate baked foods no potato chips, nothing like that.

Hall is being recruited by UT's Dan Brooks with whom he describes their relationship as good.

"Dan Brooks is recruiting me for Tennessee," he said. "He's a nice guy... I like him.

"I'll probably announce my decision on signing day. I still don't have a favorite. I'm going to take all my visits and then decide."

Big Orange fans can only hope eight is enough.
