UT commitment visits Auburn

One of Tennessee's earliest football commitments continues to make Vol recruiters sweat.

With National Signing Day just around the corner, New Orleans Jesuit High School tight end Chris Brown is taking an official visit to Auburn this weekend.

Brown, a 6-foot-3, 235-pounder with 4.6 speed, committed to the Vols last fall while still ''under the radar'' nationally. He subsequently caught the attention of several schools who have spent recent weeks trying to loosen Tennessee's grip on him.

He recently said he is considering Auburn and Florida, as well as UT.

Brown's 2003 season produced 43 catches for 940 yards and seven touchdowns. He earned All-Metro, All-District and All-State honors. Also an All-District Academic Team selection, he hopes to major in biomedical engineering.

Brown is considered a key ''get'' for Tennessee, whose tight ends combined for just one catch during the entire 2003 season.
