UT is 'Frustration Central'

These are trying times for University of Tennessee sports fans.

• The Vol football team can't beat Georgia (four losses in a row to the Bulldogs, including a 41-14 pasting last time out).

• The Lady Vol basketball team can't beat UConn (five losses in a row to the Huskies, including an 81-67 thumping last night at Thompson-Boling Arena).

• The Vol basketball team can't beat ANYONE on the road (0-4 vs. SEC opponents, with the margins ranging from 17 to 38 points).

Moreover, there's no relief in sight.

The Football Vols will try to snap their skid against Georgia next fall by sending a new starting QB against four-year Bulldog starter David Greene ... IN ATHENS.

Unless the Lady Vols draw UConn in post-season action, their next shot at the Huskies will be next winter in Storrs, Conn.

As for the Vol basketball team, its upcoming SEC road schedule is not encouraging -- at Alabama (Feb. 14), at Georgia (Feb. 21), at Kentucky (Feb. 25) and at Vanderbilt (March 3).

Fortunately, Tennessee's football program interrupted the tide of negativity by coming through with a solid effort on National Signing Day. Otherwise, the natives would REALLY be getting restless.
