Vols giving local a look

The Tennessee football team's search for rushing help in its 2005 signing class may include a trip across town.

Albert Harris of Knoxville's Austin-East High School led the state in rushing as a junior with 2,250 yards and 31 touchdowns. Not surprisingly, the 5-10, 190-pounder is getting a look from some of college football's top programs, including UT.

''My favorite teams right now are Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Miami,'' he told Andrew Bone of TheInsiders.com. ''I am hearing the most right now from Penn State and Tennessee.''

Harris was a ''Back of the Year'' finalist in Class 3A as a junior. With natural maturation and improvement, he has a chance to be a big-time college prospect as a senior. Blessed with 4.4 speed over 40 yards, Harris might be able to play either tailback or cornerback at the college level.
