Vols eye Bama blocker

Tennessee has enjoyed considerable success with offensive linemen from the state of Alabama in recent years, and the Vols are returning to this happy hunting ground in hopes of landing another behemoth for the Class of 2005.

UT, which earlier signed such Alabama O-linemen as Fred Weary, Robert Poole and Arron Sears, is now looking at Rodney Brisbon of Montgomery.

Brisbon, a 6-5, 300-pounder from Robert E. Lee High School, is getting letters from UT, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Alabama-Birmingham.

''As a kid, I liked Alabama and, as I got older, I started liking Auburn, too,'' Brisbon told Andrew Bone of TheInsiders.com.

One potential hurdle in Tennessee's pursuit of Brisbon is the fact one of last season's teammates, Antoine Caldwell, signed with Alabama last week. Asked if that will impact his decision on a college, Brisbon replied: ''It might, but I really do not know where I want to go.''

Brisbon said he had ''a great year blocking and graded out well'' in 2003. He expects to see action on both sides of the ball as a senior.

''I will probably play nose guard or one of the ends,'' he said.
