Tennessee off to a Fast Start for 2005

LaMarcus Coker is one of the top players in the state of Tennessee for 2005, and the junior star has already made a decision on his post-graduation plans.

"I've committed to Tennessee. They offered me in October, and I committed to them on Christmas Eve," LaMarcus Coker said.

How does Coker feel he fits in amongst the strong UT running back tradition?

"I grew up a fan of them pretty much. I always watched Tennessee. I liked all those guys like Travis Henry and Travis Stephens. When I was looking at rosters I found out that all their tailbacks would be gone after next year except for Gerald Riggs. I wanted a place where I can have a chance to play early."

What is he looking forward to the most about getting to Knoxville?

"Playing in front of 100,000. They're always in the top 10 in the country, and it's a big difference from playing high school in front of 2,000."

What is the Rocky Top bound runner's goals for this upcoming year?

"I want to rush for at least 2000, and of course win the state title."

Coker says he's currently 5'11 188lbs and has a personal best of 4.32 in the 40 yard dash. He has maxed out at a 205lb bench press, and a 405lb squat. He also considered Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma before he chose the Vols.
