Vols eye Georgia DT

Tennessee may be a long-shot, but that isn't stopping the Vols from pursuing one of the top defensive line prospects in the state of Georgia.

Justin Mincey, a 6-6, 250-pound junior from Charlton County High in Folkston, Ga., is leaning to the Florida State Seminoles and the Georgia Bulldogs at this point.

''I like Georgia and Florida State,'' Mincey told Ryan Jordan of TheInsiders.com. ''I like FSU because of the way they play, and the tradition. With Georgia, I was just born into it. I grew up a Georgia fan.''

Folkston already has produced former Bulldogs Champ Bailey, Boss Bailey and Ronald Bailey, along with current Georgia defensive lineman Marquis Elmore. Mincey's sister even dated Champ Bailey throughout high school.

Mincey also is a cousin of former South Carolina standout Boo Williams.

While Georgia and FSU are in front at this stage, several other schools have been in contact with Mincey.

''I got letters from places like Penn State, Virginia, Wisconsin, Florida, Tennessee, and schools like that,'' he said.

Although he played defensive end in 2003, Mincey has the frame to grow into a defensive tackle at the college level.

''The way I eat, it's possible,'' he said. ''It doesn't matter to me. I'll play anywhere on the defensive line.''
