Gordon to play for Benson

Tennessee's chances of signing one of the state's premier junior basketball standouts look a little brighter today.

Jamont Gordon of Nashville's Glencliff High School plans to play summer ball for Charlie Benson's Tennessee Travelers AAU team.

That's good news for the Vols since Benson's son, Chuck, is a first-year member of Buzz Peterson's Big Orange staff and is already recruiting Gordon.

Gordon, a 6-3, 215-pounder, is rated among the country's top 10 junior prospects in some rankings. He and Giles County's Tyler Smith, a silky smooth 6-6 wing player, are considered to be the top two names on UT's recruiting wish list for 2004.
