UT mulling Mullins monster

Tennessee recruiters are trying to make contact with one of the biggest football prospects in all of South Carolina.

Jamarcus Grant is a 6-5, 310-pound offensive lineman from Mullins whose quick feet make him one of the state's premier juniors.

''We don't throw the ball a whole lot, so he has been a run blocker for us,'' Mullins head coach Stanford Cromer told Miller Safrit of TheInsiders.com. ''He has the athletic ability and feet to be a great offensive lineman in college.''

Already, Cromer is being bombarded by recruiters from various colleges, including UT.

''I've got messages in my answering machine right now from Tennessee and South Carolina,'' Cromer said, ''and he (Grant) gets mail regularly from Notre Dame, LSU, and most of the ACC and SEC.''

Although Grant does not have any scholarship offers, he likely will have several by the time his senior season of high school ball begins.
