Prince emerges as prospect

A Magic Johnson-sized point guard is getting a look from Tennessee's basketball staff.

J. P. Prince, a 6-7, 190-pound junior, scored 20 points Monday in leading Memphis White Station to a 67-45 blitz of Dyersburg in a Class AAA sectional. Prince hit 7 of 12 floor shots as White Station (36-2) earned the berth opposite Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett in the TSSAA State Tournament March 18.

Rated a four-star prospect by TheInsiders Network, Prince reportedly got visits from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Memphis in November. Louisville, Oklahoma and Kentucky also have expressed some interest. Prince has attended hoops camps at UT and Mephis. He reportedly has been invited to visit Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Also an excellent student, Prince carries a 3.4 grade-point average.

Tennessee signed White Station's Dane Bradshaw last November. He is now UT's starting off guard and backup point guard.
