Georgia Linebacker Names a Leader

Travis Hart of LaGrange High School helped lead the Grangers to a State Championship as a junior, and he has an early favorite amongst the teams he is looking at for college.

Travis Hart and Tray Blackmon formed one of the most imposing linebacking duos in the country last season. The scary thing for LaGrange opponents is that both of them are back for their senior seasons in 2004.

Watching LaGrange play, Blackmon is the player that is turned loose to disrupt the play, Hart is the steady, sure tackling guy that reads and finishes the plays from sideline to sideline. Hart had more than his fair share of chances in the offensive backfield as well. He finished the season with 129 tackles 14 tackles for loss that included two sacks.

At 5-10 and 215 pounds, Hart is rock solid and extremely strong. he boasts a 335 pound bench press and a squat of 610 pounds. He knows how to leverage his body and avoid cut blocks well with his previous experience as a wrestler.

When asked about his early favorites, Hart answered with no hesitation.

"Tennessee," Hart answered quickly. "Tennessee is my favorite team. Auburn and Georgia are next. Then I like Arkansas and Mississippi State. I try and pattern my game after Ray Lewis."

Hart is a big part of what is going to be one of the top defensive units in the entire south next year, and he is going to have his share of recruiters come calling in May.
