Pass thief likes Tennessee

A defensive back with an uncanny knack for intercepting passes is looking at the University of Tennessee.

Van Eskridge is a 6-1, 185-pound junior from Shelby, N.C., who recorded 21 interceptions in his first three years as Shelby High School's starting free safety. Last fall he registered 90 tackles and six Oskies.

''I don't have an offer yet,'' Eskridge told Chris Pool of TheInsiders.com. ''North Carolina State would be my top choice right now. I also like Chapel Hill (University of North Carolina) a lot.

''Tennessee, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Georgia, LSU and Nebraska are my other favorites.''

Eskridge, who covers 40 yards in 4.5 seconds, plans to attend N.C. State's summer camp.
