Hoops recruiting update

There were a couple of interesting developments in Tennessee's basketball recruiting over the weekend.

First, Jackie Butler, 6-10, 260-pound post prospect from Coastal Christian Academy, scored 22 points in helping the White Team outlast the Blue Team 155-143 in the Commonwealth Classic at Richmond. Butler has announced for the NBA Draft but could still play for the Vols next winter if he chooses to postpone his pro future a bit.

JamesOn Curry scored 23 points and was named Most Valuable Player for the White Team. Joe Posey led the White with 26 points, including seven 3-pointers. Alex Galindo scored 33 for the Blue en route to MVP honors for his team. Tyree Evans added 26 and Deron Washington 25.

In another UT recruiting note, heralded prep junior Josh Thornton was named honorable mention all-state in Delaware. Though slowed by a knee injury much of the season, the 6-1, 170-pound combo guard reportedly averaged 23 points per game. He set a state record by hitting 16 3-point shots in three state tournament games, guiding Caesar Rodney High to the quarterfinals.
