Offers? Cottam's got 'em

Tennessee recruiters are hoping to keep things ''All in the Family'' this recruiting season.

The Vols signed tight end prospect Brad Cottam in their class of 2003 and they're hoping to add younger brother Jeff Cottam for their class of 2005.

Jeff is a 6-8, 255-pound junior from Germantown High School. Like his brother, he plays tight end. Blessed with 4.8 speed over 40 yards, he already has written scholarship offers from UT, Alabama and Ole Miss. No doubt, there will be many more to come.

Cottam recently told Ryan Jordan of TheInsiders.com that he is ''looking at SEC teams. I think the SEC has the best conference around.''

Still, he also considers the nearby Memphis Tigers, who play in Conference USA.

''They were right here, so I liked them,'' he said, adding: ''I have been a fan of Tennessee for the last year since my brother got there also.''

Asked what he is looking for in a school, Cottam replied: ''I want to go somewhere I can get playing time by my sophomore year. I also definitely want a school who throws to the tight end.''

That might hurt UT's chances, since Vol tight end Victor McClure caught just one pass all of last season.
