Bama 'backer likes UT

A young linebacker from Alabama lists Tennessee among his favorite schools.

Marquino Siler is a 6-0, 220-pounder from Charles Henderson High School in Troy. He is getting feelers from Alabama, Auburn, Southern Miss, Arkansas, Middle Tennessee State and Central Florida.

''Alabama, Southern Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida are my favorites,'' Siler told Andrew Bone of ''Alabama is the leader. It's close to home, and I had two cousins that played there, Cornelius Griffin and Quincy Jackson.''

Siler was named All-County as a junior. He was voted team captain and won the Ironman Award for his results in the weight room.

He has received offers from Arkansas and Troy State to date, with more sure to come.

Siler lists ''knowlege of the game'' as his strength and shedding blocks as the area most needing improvement.

He hopes to stay close to home but says there are many factors that will influence his decision.

''How far away the college is, the atmosphere, the way I feel, and how much I like it when I go on my visits,'' Siler said.
