Georgia defender likes UT

One of Georgia's premier defensive line prospects ranks Tennessee among his early favorites.

Larry Cox is a 6-foot-6, 250-pounder from Peach County High School of Fort Valley, Ga. He reportedly covers 40 yards in 4.7 seconds and registered 42 tackles as a junior last fall. Not surprisingly, a lot of schools are trying to sign him.

''I've been getting mail from schools like Auburn, ASU, Tennessee, Maryland, Notre Dame, Memphis, Wake Forest, Georgia, Marshall, Alabama and Duke,'' he told Mike Frank of TheInsiders.com.

The Fighting Irish appear to be especially interested in Cox.

''They send me a lot of stuff -- a lot of handwritten stuff,'' he said. ''Maryland and Georgia also send me a lot of mail.''

Cox says his decision on a college home is not imminent.

''I plan to take some visits,'' he said. ''I'm not sure I'll take all five, though. Education will be important. Also, the coaching staff will be important to me. I wouldn't mind staying home, but I don't think I will. I'll definitely look at schools out of state.''

Asked about his early leaders, Cox replied: ''I'd say Georgia, Maryland, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn, Michigan, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan and Arizona State. Those would be the schools I'm looking at the most right now.''
