UT looking at burly lineman

A guy with the size, quickness and smarts of Scott Wells has shown up on Tennessee's recruiting radar.

Brian Leggett is a 6-2, 285-pound offensive line prospect from Meridian (Miss.) High School. Blessed with a 4.9 time in the 40 and a 3.8 grade-point average, he is attracting interest from schools across the South.

''I have offers from Ole Miss, Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt,'' he told Scott Kennedy of TheInsiders.com. ''Florida was my favorite team growing up, and right now I like Ole Miss, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and Southern Miss.''

Like the afore-mentioned Wells, UT's starting center the past four seasons, Leggett is a hardnosed blocker who is remarkably consistent.

''I graded out at about 93% on the field last year,'' he said, ''and I had 125 knockdown blocks.''

One area where Leggett falls short of Wells is strength. His 325-pound bench press is pretty good for a prep junior but it's roughly 200 pounds shy of the mark posted by Wells as a Vol senior.
