There are no injuries to report. That is always a good thing. Wide receiver Chris Hannon was back and showed no signs of the sprained ankle that kept him out of workouts yesterday. Linebacker Kevin Burnett did not practice today due to dehydration. He will practice tomorrow.
C.J. Leak preformed very well today. He and wide receiver Tony Brown were on the same page for the entire practice. Brown made multiple catches of 20 and 30 yards on passes that looked like laser beams from C.J. Leak. This was Brown's best day of the spring by far.
Rick Clausen just didn't look comfortable throwing the ball. He looked good throwing the short patterns in the flat but not as good throwing the ball down the field.
Today looked like another "teach day" as Coach Fulmer put it. The quarterbacks worked on their timing by doing 5 and 7 step drops. They also practiced rollouts and bootlegs to both sides of the field.
James Banks didn't see any action at quarterback today. Looks like he will stay put at wide receiver.
In the scrimmage tomorrow the coaching staff wants to work on the kicking game and get in about 80 plays.
The safety position is a big concern for this team. Hopefully some of the questions can be cleared up in the scrimmage tomorrow.
Running backs coach Trooper Taylor has brought some much-needed energy to the Vols. Gerald Riggs fumbled during a running back drill near the end of practice. Coach Taylor took him aside and made the back do fumble drill for a good 5 minutes or so.
The team will scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Bill Haslem Field.
