Vols like Arkansas DB

Tennessee signed a top-notch cornerback out of Arkansas 14 months ago -- Roshaun Fellows of Warren -- and the Vols are hoping to pry another quality DB out of Arkansas in the months ahead.

Cordero Mills is a 5-10 1/2, 183-pounder from McClellan High School of Little Rock. He used his 4.5 speed to record 75 tackles, six interceptions and five forced fumbles as a junior last fall. Amazingly, his tackle total included 17 stops for minus yardage. He also played some offense, but his college future appears to be on the defensive side of the ball.

It's a safe bet this young man will get a lot of attention between now and Signing Day of 2005.

''I haven't gotten any offers yet,'' Mills told Scott Kennedy of TheInsiders.com, ''but my top five right now is Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi State.''

The homestate Razorbacks may have a slight lead at the moment.

''I went to a bunch of Arkansas home games last year,'' Mills said. ''I also went to watch Arkansas play against Ole Miss (in Oxford).''

Mills runs the 100-meter hurdles in track. He reportedly bench presses 285 pounds and squats 415. This combination of quickness, agility and strength makes him an intriguing prospect for the Class of 2005.
