Mobile QB looking at UT

A mobile quarterback is giving Tennessee's football program a long look.

Ricky Phillips is a 6-1, 190-pounder from Spring Valley High School of Huntington, W. Va. He ran for 1208 yards and passed for another 1050 last fall, scoring 17 total touchdowns and earning first-team all-state recognition.

Blessed with 4.6 speed, he also doubled as a defensive back. A versatile athlete, Phillips batted .345 in baseball as a freshman and averaged 13 points per game in basketball.

Phillips has not yet received any scholarship offers but he already has compiled a short list of preferred schools.

''I'm looking at West Virginia, Tennessee, Marshall, Ohio State, and Penn State,'' he told Mike Bakas of TheInsiders.com. ''I plan on attending Chad Pennington's passing camp, the NIKE Camp, West Virginia's camp, and Tennessee's football camp.''
