UT in 'backer's top three

One of the South's top linebacker prospects now lists Tennessee among his three favorite football programs.

Jonathan Anderson, profiled earlier on this site, is a 6-1, 230-pound middle linebacker from Ocean Springs (Miss.) High School. He says he is planning to attend Tennessee's summer camp, among others.

Anderson already has gotten letters of inquiry from UT, Columbia, Southern Miss, Yale, West Virginia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Marshall, Miami, Michigan, Stanford, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Since his mom graduated from Southern Miss, Anderson is leaning a bit toward the Hattiesburg school at this point. But the Vols are very much in the battle.

''My top three are USM, Tennessee and Miami,'' Anderson told Scott Kennedy of TheInsiders.com. ''Probably LSU, also. But the main school that I am looking at is USM.''

Anderson, who clocks 4.7 in the 40-yard dash, missed all but the first two games of the 2003 season with a broken ankle. He reportedly recorded 42 tackles in the two games he played, however.
