Tuesday Practice Report

The weather conditions felt more like November than April as Tuesday's practice took place at Neyland Stadium. <p> Practice began with the first four periods devoted to position drills. The running backs worked on hand-eye coordination, receivers worked on motion drills, and linemen worked on blocking and tackling.

After the drills came time for a team favorite, the Tennessee drill. The Tennessee drill always seems to get the players excited and more involved with practice. The team ran the drill about 10-12 times before it came time to scrimmage.

This scrimmage was approximately 40 plays long and featured some exciting plays. The most exciting play came from sophomore, non-scholarship, running back David Yancey #28. The 5-8 running back broke loose for a 53 yard touchdown run midway through the scrimmage. Yancey ended up with 8 carries for 92 yards and 1TD. Coach Fulmer spoke of David's performance after practice.

"Yancey in my mind is one of those guys we're gonna count on in the fall….I love the guy he's a coach's dream. Some of those players who are on scholarship should look at him and appreciate what they've got."

The only other back to see reps today was Cedric Houston who finished with 6 carries for 28 yards and 1 fumble. Jabari Davis did not practice today; he is recovering from some dental work over the weekend.

The quarterbacks struggled today possibly due to the weather. C.J. Leak was 3-12 for 52 yards 46 of those yards came on a touchdown pass to Bill Grimes. No interceptions

Rick Clausen went 6-14 for 56 yards and 1 interception.

Coach Fulmer said of the weather "It's good to get out here on a bad weather day and see how the quarterbacks would respond to it, looks like the defense held the offense pretty good."

There were no new injuries to report.

One more practice on Thursday before Saturday's Orange vs. White game at Neyland Stadium.
